In this tutorial, you will learn how to create your own action group. If you’re not registered yet, you’ll need to register before you create your group.
Action groups can be created for any type of organizing. They can help existing groups, coalitions, and programs organize resources and welcome new voices to have a greater community impact.
To join an existing action group, simply click the Join Group button.
Now for the process of creating your own Action Group. You want to navigate to the Action Group section of the website
And click CREATE A GROUP
From here you will be led through 8 easy steps from naming your group to filling out any strategy objective and goals you may have. You can come back to edit any components of the Group description/settings at any time.
Inside the Action Group…
Here’s what you can do in each of the Action Group sections (remember you can use as many or as few of the sections as you want)
- Home – see the most recent activity for your group – including new members, any added documents or changes in data. You can post something here if you have an event announcement or a question. People will be able to comment directly on what you share.
- Forum – this is for more in depth conversations you might want to have. Topics can be created and organized.
- Strategy – the strategy tab is where community groups , coalitions, and programs can detail their strategy, and what goals they’re hoping to achieve.
- Raw Data – this is where groups can track any measures they might be working on. Once entered the program automatically graphs your progress. Examples include number of naloxone kits distributed, or number of home visits completed.
- Docs – this is a tab for collaborative writing (think google docs). When you create an Action Group you have the choice to include or exclude this feature.
- Documents – This is where you can keep any and all documents relevant to your group.
- Members – this tab will show you all of your partners who have joined the group.
- Plus Sign – you will see this icon if you have administrative privileges in a group. This is where you can manage all of your settings, and change foundational settings (like privacy, and email settings).
